The Huntsville Field Site embeds Lincoln Laboratory staff in Alabama's biggest city, a growing technology hub where many aerospace companies and major government agencies are based. The site is located near the U.S. Army Garrison – Redstone Arsenal, a military base that is home to Laboratory sponsors including the Missile Defense Agency, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, and Space Development Agency. This proximity enables field site staff to directly engage with sponsors and the warfighter community to collaboratively identify areas of need, develop technology solutions, and perform technology transfer to both the government and industry.
The Huntsville Field Site features collaboration and conference space, and supports up to 25 technical staff who perform research and provide technical leadership to Laboratory sponsors. Research areas include architecture development, future technology exploration, and human-machine teaming. Huntsville staff also work with staff at the Kwajalein Field Site to help maintain, operate, and upgrade radar systems.
